Day 21: Create Joy In Your Every Day

You get to live your happiness now, but you must choose to express what is already deep inside you rather than longing to be someone else.

Listen to the audio, then do the journaling activity below.

Back on Day 1, you identified the gaps that you feel in your life. Remember those? Flick back through your journal to refresh your memory. We have covered a lot of territory since then, and it’s easy to forget what was bugging you.

Those gaps are self-created. The way you’re looking at your life causes them to open up.

Too often, we get caught in the trap of thinking a big change has to happen before we get to close that gap. That could include changing your job, your relationships, or losing weight. The list of reasons goes on. You’ve created the scenario where there’s a bridge you have to build and cross to get to be that better person.

That’s not true. You are already that better person. You get to live your happiness now, but you must make a decision for that to happen.

You must choose to express what is already deep inside you rather than longing to be someone else.

Journal Time…

Step 1: Choose a difficult or dull task that you will experience during the next week. For example, there might be something you have to do at work that doesn’t excite you or you’re feeling flat about somewhere you have to be.

Then using one of your themes from yesterday…

Step 2: Brainstorm ways you could live that theme while doing that task. Look for small/subtle opportunities; they often work best.

Then, go ahead and put your idea into action and see the impact. Especially observe the impact on people around you and your effectiveness. Be sure to do a journal entry about what happened and how you felt.
